Jay Belloli is Director of Publications for the Austin Val Verde Foundation. He has been the Director of Gallery Programs at the Armory Center for the Arts since 1990. During the past 35 years he has held the position of curator of a number of modern or contemporary art institutions throughout the country, including the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis; Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston; San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art; Fort Worth Museum of Modern Art (curator and director); and Detroit Institute of Arts (Curator of Modern Art). Before he began to work at the Armory, he was Director of the former Baxter Art Gallery at the California Institute of Technology.

Belloli has co-organized numerous museum exhibitions and publications on contemporary art and early twentieth-century Southern California architecture, including the architects Myron Hunt, Wallace Neff, the partnership of Reginald Johnson, Gordon Kauffman and Roland Coate, and the original campus of Caltech (designed by Bertram Goodhue and Associates). In the 1980s and 1990s he developed three exhibitions for the government of India on various aspects of photographic imaging from telescopes, satellites and spacecraft. He has an on-going commitment to art about the environment, organizing five such exhibitions throughout his career. Belloli has also written extensively on contemporary art.

Belloli graduated with honors, Phi Beta Kappa, from Stanford University. He received his Masters in History of Art from the University of California, Berkeley, writing his thesis on Andy Warhol under the guidance of Peter Selz.
